Leonard Svensson, Senior Counsel at BSKB, has practiced in the field of intellectual property law for over 30 years. He is experienced in all aspects of patent procurement and enforcement, including district court litigation and inter partes procedures in the USPTO, namely patent interferences, patent reexaminations and inter partes review. Mr. Svensson is also experienced in all stages of patent prosecution, both in the USPTO and managing international patent portfolios and he has counseled clients and prepared numerous opinions analyzing patent validity and infringement issues. Mr. Svensson has particular technical experience in the fields of biotechnology, life science, biochemistry, pharmaceuticals and organic chemistry.

    On March 4, 2014, the USPTO issued its Guidance (guidelines) on subject matter eligibility under 35 U.S.C. § 101 in view of the recent Supreme Court decisions of Association for Molecular Pathology v.Myriad Genetics, Inc. (2013) and MayoCollaborative Services v. Prometheus Laboratories, Inc. (2012).
