BSKB Partners to Speak on U.S. Patent Law Changes to INFOPAT Group in Japan
BSKB partners Marc S. Weiner and Eugene T. Perez have been invited to speak in Tokyo, Japan to members of the Association for the Study of International & Foreign Patent Trademark Laws & Practice (INFOPAT) on May 10, 2012. Their lecture, entitled “First Inventor to File, Prior Art and Priority under the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act: Transitioning to the New U.S. Patent Law,” will cover the changes to 35 U.S.C. §§ 102 (anticipation) and 103 (obviousness/inventive step) due to the 2011 America Invents Act (AIA). This lecture will also cover §§ 102/103 before and after the effective law date of March 16, 2013, as well as specific topics such as the 1-year grace period, when U.S. patents and patent application publications are available as prior art, and filing by an assignee.
