Senior Human Resources Generalist
Birch, Stewart, Kolasch & Birch, LLP, an internationally-recognized intellectual property law firm has an excellent and immediate opportunity for a full time Senior Human Resources Generalist. The position will be responsible for a wide range of human resource activities throughout the firm. This role will be responsible for the following including but not limited to:
Employee Relations
 Provide advice and counsel on employee relations policies related to EEO, performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions, personnel conflicts, grievances, and separations.
 Handling harassment complaints and providing conflict resolution through investigations and employee counseling.
 Liaising between employees and management to create positive work environment and implement HR best practices in compliance with state, federal, and regulatory labor laws.
 Coordination of annual performance evaluations of staff and attorneys.
Human Resources Policies, Procedures, & Compliance
 Maintain and update employee handbook. Identify ways to improve firm policies and procedures.
 Communicate and serve as point of contact for policies pertaining to Human Resources, compensation, and benefits.
 Ensure compliance with EEO, ADA, FMLA, ERISA, and other state or federal employment laws.
Employment Lifecycle
 Assist with identifying recruiting sources to attract talent for job positions.
 Post job advertisements, set up interviews, and develop streamlining for recruitment practices.
 Perform background checks, reference checks, and I-9 verifications. Maintain and update personnel records and compliance paperwork.
 Coordinate new hire orientations, employee engagement activities, and maintain employee wellness program.
 Conduct exit interviews and off boarding process.
Benefits Administration
 Coordination of group benefits including health, dental, disability, and retirement plans. Answering benefit questions and communicating with insurance vendors.
 Administer FMLA, COBRA, Short Term/Long Term Disability claims, Worker’s Comp.
 Auditing timesheets and data entry of vacation time, sick leave, and FMLA.
Other duties as assigned.
 Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field with exposure to employee relations required. HR certifications preferred. Prior work experience in a law firm or other professional services environment a plus.
 Three to five years of experiences in HR required.
 Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills (both written and oral).
 Fundamental knowledge of Human Resource policies and procedures.
 Exercise discretion and good judgement when handling confidential information.
 Abilities to multitask, demonstrate excellent prioritization skills, and work well under pressure in fast paced environment.
Normal business hours with ability to be flexible when necessary.
