Summer Patent Seminar
For 30 years, BSKB has offered its Summer Patent Seminar, which provides lectures and instruction in all aspects of U.S. patent law. Topics featured in the Summer Patent Seminar (SPS) range from patent prosecution to litigation, and include patent interference practice. This three-and-a-half week program focuses primarily on the practical problems encountered in obtaining and enforcing patents.
In addition to the academic experience, BSKB strives to help our international participants enjoy, appreciate and experience the American way of life and culture. Planned activities give participants the chance to explore Washington, DC and the surrounding area. We also encourage our participants to take the opportunity to learn about the other cultures represented among the seminar class. 2012 marked the 30th anniversary of the SPS, and included participants from China, Germany, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and the United States. Many friendships and business relationships are made during the course of the program which last long after the program concludes.
To encourage those relationships, BSKB arranges for several activities throughout the course of the program. These activities include an opening "getting to know you" reception and a closing banquet with a graduation ceremony, as well as a picnic, baseball game, and a weekend retreat outside of the Washington, DC area, among other activities.
The 2013 SPS will be held June 5 through June 28, 2013 at BSKB's offices in the metropolitan Washington, DC area.
More information about the seminar can be found in the 2013 SPS brochure.
