Federal Circuit: Reissue Applications Can Add Narrower Patent Claims

A recent ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit gives patent owners more power to correct patent applications. The court ruled on April 15 in In re Tanaka that "adding dependent claims as a hedge against possible invalidity of original claims" is a proper use of the reissue process.
