President Obama signed into law the “Leahy-Smith American Invents Act (H.R. 1249)” on Friday, September 16, 2011. Based on that law, effective Monday, September 26, 2011, a 15-percent surcharge is added to general patent services fees, including patent maintenance fees.

Please be advised that the USPTO will not be implementing a cost of living increase on October 1, 2011.
