Experience:
Mr. Mutter is co-responsible for management of the electrical department of the firm.
Mr. Mutter personally works in all aspects of domestic and international patent
prosecution, particularly in complex electronics and computer art areas. Mr. Mutter is
also personally involved in client counseling and portfolio management including
licensing, as well as the preparation of infringement, validity, and general advisory
opinions. Mr. Mutter has experience in multimedia and image processing, control system,
sonar and ultrasound imaging, data and image encodation, error correction coding; radio
communications, semiconductors and computer architecture. Mr. Mutter has also been
personally involved in the development of the current state of the law of patentability of
algorithmic inventions and business methods in the United States and in Europe.
Mr. Mutter was a Patent Examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office from 1976 to
1979. He has practiced in the intellectual property field since 1976, specializing in
electronic and computer technology protection, licensing and counseling.
